Czapek originally made watches in Geneva with another Polish immigrant, Antoine Norbert de Patek from 1839.
Eventually both men went their separate ways – Patek teaming-up with Adrien Philippe (their own eponymous brand becoming the most successful independent watchmaker to date) while Czapek formed Czapek & Cie with Julien Gruzewski. Although the brand was a success, the name didn’t survive François Czapek’s death.
It remained largely forgotten until 2011, when watchmaker Sebastian Follonier, art expert Harry Guhl, and luxury veteran Xavier de Roquemaurel came together to revive the brand.
In 1770, philosopher Voltaire supports the establishment of watchmaking workshops in Ferney-Voltaire near Geneva and Manufacture Royale is established. It is then an important producer of timepieces and the famous Jean-Antoine Lépine, clockmaker to the king, is one of its watchmakers. Manufacture Royale also made objets d'art such as table watches. The Manufacture gently disappeared in the vicissitude of time but was revived in 2010.
The company has been producing luxury items since its founding in 1872. The founder of the brand, Simon Tissot-Dupont, was born in Savoy in 1847, and the company owes its initials to him. T.T. TRUNKS is a young and innovative luxury goods company specializing in the creation of high standard furniture trunks.
